Virginia Williams Ward

Virginia Williams Ward, age 90, of 3554 Old Liberty Rd., Franklinville died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville, NC with Rev. Russell Brownworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ward was a native of Carthage, NC, was a homemaker, and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, James David Williams and Roxie Ann Willard Williams, sister, Hazel W. Davis, and brothers, James, Clay, Junior and Billy Williams. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth T. Ward of the home; daughters, Judith W. Newell of McLeansville, NC, JoAnne W. Higgins of Asheboro, NC, Regina W. Allen of Pleasant Garden, NC; grandchildren, Kelly Kernodle of McLeansville, NC, Jennifer Higgins of Denton, NC, Shannon, Suzy and Jon Allen all of Pleasant Garden, NC; great grandchildren, Avery Cox and Brianna Kernodle both of McLeansville, NC; step grandchild, Craig Allen of Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Patricia Shevlin and Dr. Larry Sanzenbacher, the nurses and staff of Randolph Hospital, and to Hospice of Randolph County for the care given to Virginia during her illness.
