Virginia Lee Hancock Smith, age 88, of Asheboro died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 6:00 am at the Randolph Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Asheboro Friends Meeting, 230 East Kivett St., Asheboro with Rev. Pat Thames, Rev. Ken Thames, and Rev. David Millikan officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was born on Hoover Street in Asheboro on September 27, 1924 to Hobart and Merchie Foster Hancock. Virginia was an active member of Asheboro Friends Meeting, Eastview Garden Club, Asheboro Civitans, and the McDonald's senior bingo group. She was retired from General Electric. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Ed Smith, son Randol Smith, and sister Fleta Smith. God has blest us and may he bless you.
Surviving are her son, Rick Smith of Oak Island, NC; granddaughters, Jennifer Ruff, Monica Tyler, Janna Springs, and Stephanie Bivens; 3 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Brewer of Asheboro; and niece, Donna Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro and other times at her home.
