Virginia Morton Rich, age 90, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2013 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Harvell officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rich was born in Troy on January 27, 1923 to Jim and Minnie Morton. She was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School where she was the class valedictorian. Virginia was retired from Bossong Hosiery and was formerly employed with Pinehurst Textiles. She taught Sunday School at Oakhurst Baptist Church for 20 years and later at Grace Methodist Church. She was a member of Hunts Plank Road Church. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey W. Rich, sons Terry and Rickie Rich, grandson Mick Jarrell, and brothers Earl, Ray and Joe Morton. Virginia was a loving daughter, wife, and mother. She loved God. She had a kind and generous heart. She leaves behind many friends.
She is survived by her son, Dannie Rich and his wife Jane of Asheboro; grandson, Chris Jarrell; and great grandchildren, Krista, Caitlen, and Cassidy Jarrell, and Chelsey Dever.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Universal Healthcare and Teresa Whitehead and her family for the loving care given to Virginia.
