Virginia Hales Long

Virginia Hales Long, age 80, of Troy died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Mrs. Long was born October 17, 1935 in Rockfish, NC to Curtis E. Hales, Sr. and Lena Mae Smith Hales. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Troy and was retired from Montgomery Community College with 16 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Jackson Gentry, William Harold Long and her son, Samuel Jeffrey Gentry. She is survived by her daughter, Jaye Gentry Ballard and fiance' Albert Pereida; daughter-in-law, Allison Gentry; step-son, Richard Long and wife Sandy; step-daughter, Jeannette Thompson and husband Teddy; sisters, Barbara Kinlaw, Linda Snyder and husband Bob; brothers, Curtis Hales, Jr. and wife Minnie, Grady Hales and wife Patricia, Jerry Hales and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Paul Ballard and wife Liz, Jacob Ballard and wife Kayla, Stephen Ballard, Dinah Ballard Coley and husband Justin, Jesse Gentry, Jackson Gentry, Joe Gentry; eight great grandchildren and one bonus great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Troy, 401 E. Main Street, Troy with Dr. Phil McRae officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.
