Virginia Eva Garner

Virginia M. Garner, age 84, of Asheboro died Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.  Mrs. Garner was born April 20, 1934 in Asheboro the daughter of Floyd and Hattie Lindley McMasters.

Virginia was a native of Randolph county, a member of Balfour Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class and served as class secretary for many years.  She was retired from Black & Decker, member of Woodman Life for over 50 years and serving as a National Representative.  She was the recipient of The Long Leaf Pine Award.  Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother, she had a passion for her flowers and gardening.  She enjoyed spending time with friends and playing Senior Bingo.  In addition to her parents Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Blease Garner, Sr.  sister, Vera Forrest and brothers, Cleo & Richard McMasters.          

She is survived by her daughter: Sylvia G. Hicks and husband Larry of Staley; sons: Donald B. Garner, Jr. and wife Judy of Minneapolis, Minn., Gary W. Garner and wife Terri of Randleman, and Keith R. Garner and wife Karen of Asheboro; grandchildren: Larry Hicks, Jr. and girlfriend Jessica of Franklinville, Jason Hicks and wife Jessica of Staley, Adam Hicks and girlfriend Allison of Staley, Jonathan Garner and wife Tiffany of Asheboro, Wayne Garner of Asheboro, Ginny Vondra and husband Michael of Mcleansville, Jake Garner and wife Brooke of Raleigh, Dustin Garner and girlfriend Carolyn of Asheboro and Dylan Garner and wife Morgan of Asheboro: 14 great grandchildren.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro from 6 – 8 PM and other times at the home, 486 Fern Drive in Asheboro.  The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro at 10:00 AM with Rev Mark Wilburn officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro.
