Virginia Frances Kornegay Thomas

Virginia Frances Kornegay Thomas, age 70, of 353 Shiloh Woods Drive, Troy died Friday, October 24, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Virginia was born October 24, 1944 at Mt. Olive, NC, the daughter of Quinton and Mattie Pearl Herring Kornegay. Virginia was an active volunteer at the Montgomery County Senior Center where she served on the Advisory Board. She had her own personal card ministry where she would send cards to people who had experienced a death in their family, or someone with an illness, shut-ins or ones celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. It was her way of trying to uplift people and encouraging them in their storms of life or in their good times. She always somehow seem to know which card was right for the occasion. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Linda Ann Kornegay and a brother, Lewis Kornegay. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years: Winston C. Thomas of the home; two daughters: Kimberly T. Welles of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Theresa Thomas (Bruce Kerns of Troy) of the home; two grandsons: Ryan Thomas and Alexander Welles; one sister: Mary Sinclair of New Bern, NC and one brother: Leslie Ray Kornegay. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm at Shiloh Methodist Church, Shiloh Church Road, Troy. Funeral services will follow at the church at 3:00 pm with the Reverend Dr. Harold Pope officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery.
