Mary Virginia Davis Auman, age 90 of 5968 Old Troy Road, Asheboro, NC passed on Monday, March 3, 2008, at Randolph Hospital after an extended illness. Virginia was born July 12, 1917 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Roy Jesse Davis and Ida Farrington Davis. Her family moved to Randolph County when she was a young girl. She was the eldest of thirteen children and was called "Sis" by all her brothers and sisters. Virginia was a homemaker for most of her life and retired with eighteen years of service from Lucks, Inc. of Seagrove. She loved her family and many friends, and their calls and visits. Attending New Hope United Methodist Church, working in her yard, growing beautiful flowers, cooking great meals and desserts to share with family and friends, and her special cat, "Miss Kitty," were some of the things Virginia enjoyed the most. She always had a sweet smile, a hug and kiss, and "I love you" for everyone. She was the widow of Edward Auman who passed in March 1970. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Helen Davis Carter, Ruby Davis Sikes, and Peggy Davis Inman; brothers: Edgar Davis, James Davis, Elsworth Davis, and Charles Ray (Buck) Davis; and son-in-law, Andy J. Hancock. She is survived by daughters: LaVerne A. Williams and husband, Bobby, of Asheboro, and Louise A. Hancock of Seagrove; sons, Harold Auman and wife, Sammye, Eugene Auman and wife, Cleo, Danny Auman and wife, Debbie all of Asheboro. Virginia was a very proud grandmother and is survived by eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Auman and wife, Lisa, of Marietta, Ohio, Dr. Heidi Auman Chitwood and husband, Jason, of San Francisco, Calif, Dr. Brandon R. Williams and wife, Amy, of Asheboro, Angela A. Myers of Asheboro, Rhonda J. Auman of Charlotte, Aaron J. Hancock of Seagrove, Daniel Auman and Stacey Auman of Asheboro and great-grandson, Tyler Myers. She is also survived by sisters, Bertie D. Cole and Dorthine "Dot" Sikes and husband Ray, of Asheboro, Evona D. Coble of Franklinville, and Sue D. Hackett and husband, Bill, of Conway, SC; brother, R. J. Davis and wife, Hazel, of Climax. Also, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church of Seagrove at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 6, 2008 with the Rev. Kelly Ottinger, Rev. Alanda Harris, and Rev. Harold Hammond officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on New Hope Church Road, Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, and other times at the home. The family expresses appreciation to all who helped with her care, sent cards, kept her in their prayers, and visited her during her extended illness.
