Virgil Whitt Sexton

Virgil Whitt Sexton, age 72, of 4959 Watercrest Trail, Asheboro died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 4836 Robbins Circle Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Jody Harrison and Rev. Brian Cole officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Sexton was a native of Galax, VA and had lived in Randolph County since 1966. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from the Harris-Teeter Transportation Division. Virgil was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joy Poe Sexton; daughter, Debbie Sexton Russell and her husband Steve of Trinity, NC; son, Dennis Wayne Sexton of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Robert Steve Russell and Jesse Dale Russell; sisters, Peggy Sexton Dickens of Galax, VA, Wanda Sexton Pulliam of High Point, NC; and brother, Eugene Sexton of Mt. Airy, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4836 Robbins Circle Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
