Virgie McDowell McElreath, age 74, of 156 E. Academy St., Asheboro died Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery, Denton. Mrs. McElreath was a native of Randolph County and was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery and Klopman Mills. She is survived by her son, Roger McElreath of Asheboro, NC; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Bristow of Asheboro, NC, Ora Clark of Asheboro, NC, Louise Lambeth of Thomasville, NC, Minnie Cranford of Asheboro, NC and brother, Fred McDowell of Wilmington, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 10:00-10:45 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
