Vennie Darlene Barnes

Vennie Darlene Barnes, age 97, passed away peacefully at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation in Biscoe, NC on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Vennie was born in Montgomery County on May 28, 1924 to the late Ted Parsons and the late Abby Hicks Sheffield.  She was a homemaker.

Vennie had a kind, loving heart.  She loved to cook and work in her flower gardens.  She never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew her.  She especially loved her family.  She attended Holly Mount Baptist Church until she was no longer able to go.

She is survived by four daughters: Faye Woodard, Shirley Britt (Roger), Loraine Newcomer (Roger), and Jackie Barnes; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barnes, two sisters: Violet Lamonds and Sis Sheffield

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holly Mount Baptist Church, 536 Holly Mount Church Road, Mt. Gilead, NC.  The funeral service will be at 11:00 am with Rev. Ben Hall officiating.   Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
