Vestal Odell Routh, 85, of Climax, NC, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3, 2015. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2015 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, NC. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 2pm at Bethany United Methodist Church, Franklinville, NC with Rev. Pat Dixon and Pastor John Gunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late Paul and Lillian Routh. Odell lived in Randolph County his entire life. He was owner of Routh Oil Company, Routh Transportation, and Routh Water Service. He was a cattle farmer, enthusiastic potter, 50 year member of Zooland Region AACA, lifelong member of scouting in Randolph County. He currently held the title Chartered Organization Representative. A member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Odell was a member of the United Methodist Men, a former Choir Director, and the current Assistant Choir Director. He faithfully agreed to serve on boards and committees within the church throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter; brothers Bruce, Garland, and Elmer Routh; and sister Marie Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dolores Lineberry Routh; daughter Karen Braswell and husband, Frank, of Concord, NC; son Brad Routh and wife, Christy, of Climax; daughter Kristie DeSota and husband, John, of Climax; and son Eric Routh and wife, Jan, also of Climax. Survivors also include six grandchildren: Frank Braswell III, Amber Bunnell, Erica DeSota, Tyler Routh, Patrick DeSota, and Dylan Routh. Additionally, survivors include seven great grandchildren: Aiden Braswell, Evan Braswell, Aniston Bunnel, Jax Bunnell, Ayla Bunnell, Evalyn Routh, and Lacie Routh. He is also survived by three brothers, Johnny Routh of Denton, NC, Ralph Routh of Pawleys Island, SC, and Sam Routh of Franklinville.
