William Vestal Pyrtle, Jr., age 84, of 4111 Jackson Creek Rd., Denton died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Bobby Marsh officiating.
Mr. Pyrtle was born on April 15, 1927 in Randolph County, the son of W.V. Pyrtle, Sr. and Ada Slawter Pyrtle. He was retired from the textile industry after 40 years of service, and was a member of Faith Alliance Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Ledwell Pyrtle, his parents, brothers, David, Joe, and Carl Pyrtle, sisters, Mary Zimmerman, Irene Dickens, Lelia Littleton, Roxie Hall, and Grace Edmondson, and son-in-law, Tim Armstrong. Vestal and his wife Norma loved to travel over the years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and his dog Molly.
He is survived by his daughters, Gaye Armstrong of Denton; Jan Richardson and her husband Tony of Asheboro; sons, Terry Pyrtle of Denton, Larry Pyrtle and his wife Sherry of Asheboro, Billy Pyrtle of Denton; grandchildren, Stacey Ferguson and her husband Rodney, Shane Armstrong, Chris Armstrong and his wife Amanda, Amy Richardson, Kristy Pyrtle; Kevin Pyrtle, Gabriella Pyrtle, and Amanda Smith; great grandchildren, Kelsey Ferguson, Skylar Ferguson, Zoe Ferguson, Grayson Armstrong, Savannah Myrick, Logan Hunter, and Kristina Pyrtle; great great grandchild, Kyleigh Jane Rich; and sister, Gloria Willeby and her husband Hank of Denton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
