Vernon Van Buren Lamb, age 85, of Franklinville passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
Mr. Lamb was born August 19, 1931 the son of Paul and Mary Lamb. Vernon was a polio survivor. He contracted Polio at age 16 and fought to overcome this disease. Vernon had Alzheimer's for the past12 years before losing the battle, but never forgot Jewel's name, the love of his life. Vernon retired from Energizer in Asheboro and attended Midway Wesleyan Church in Randleman. He enjoyed fishing and playing bluegrass music with his cousin Bobby Richardson. In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Nelson; brother, Wayne Lamb.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Jewel Pugh Lamb of the home; son, Richard Vernon Lamb (Debbie) of Shallotte; daughter: Sharon Lamb Cannon (Randall) of Asheboro;
grandchildren:, Amber Pack (Roger) of Franklinville, Michael Hunt (Stephanie) of Seagrove, Tricia Brown of Lake Tillery; step grandchildren: Melissa Cannon of Greensboro and Laura Maness (Jonathon) of Asheboro; and the light of his eye was his 13 great grandchildren, Brad, Jennifer, Jessica, Roman, Israel, Junior, Allison, Jewelee, Carey, Hunter, Hailey, Ashton and Avery, whom he loved very much.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2:00 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Maxton Craven and Rev. Arnold Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
