Verlie Freeman Hogan, age 92, of Troy, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Verlie was born October 8, 1924 in Randolph County. She was the daughter of Arlie and Kate Russell Freeman.
She was a former employee of Capel Rug Mill and after retirement she worked in home health caring for the elderly. She was a loving, giving and supportive Christian lady. According to her family she made the best biscuits in Montgomery County.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Madison "Bill" Hogan; a son, James Kenneth Hogan; an infant son, an infant daughter and infant great grandson; three brothers and two sisters.
Verlie is survived by one daughter: Delores Hoover and husband Darius of Asheboro; one son: Larry Hogan and wife Carolyn of Troy; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home; other times at her apartment, 516 Wallace Ave, Apt 13-B, Troy. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Forks of Little River Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny VunCannon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
