Vera Ferree Striegel

Lady Vera Ferree Striegel, age 95, of North Pointe Assisted Living, Randleman died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marion Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro. Ms. Striegel was born in Randleman. She lived most of her life in Asheboro, but in the 1950's she and her husband moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, where they owned the Tahiti Hotel. In the late 1940's she and her mother ran Vera's Flower Shop in Asheboro. Vera was an avid golfer and played at the Asheboro Municipal Golf Course and at Pinewood Country Club. She was the great granddaughter of John Banner Randleman, namesake of the Town of Randleman. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Robert Ferree, Jr., Charles Ferree, Randleman Ferree, and Johnny Ferree. She is survived by her nephews, Robert Ferree III of Creston, NC and Randleman "Randy" Ferree of Asheboro, NC; nieces, Mary Alice Ferree of Seven Lakes, NC and Beth Castelloe of Chesapeake , VA; and sisters-in-law, Sarah Ferree of Portsmouth, VA and Pearl Ferree of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
