Velna Allen Craven

Velna Gray Allen Craven, age 87, of 2925 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro and formerly of Ramseur, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Carillon Assisted Living of Asheboro. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 am at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark C. Beane officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery in Ramseur. Mrs. Craven was born in Randolph County on February 5, 1926 to Otis and Snodie Craven Allen. She was a retired beautician and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Ramseur. In addition to her parents, Velna was preceded in death by her husband William Page Craven, son Rodney Craven, and brothers Alton and Lloyd Allen. She is survived by her sister, Grace A. McPherson of Franklin, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carillon Assisted Living Piano Fund, 2925 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, NC 27205.
