Vellie Sanders Stutts

Vellie Sanders Stutts, age 96, of Asheboro died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Stutts was born in Randolph County on August 6, 1917 to Farley and Nettie Russell Sanders. She was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery, Acme-McCrary, Sew Special, and Larry Milberg. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Vellie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stutts, sisters Flossie Overton, Genie Callicutt, Diza Kemp, Edna Sanders, and Kate Brewer, brother Rom Sanders, nephew Martin Overton, and nieces Ruby Overton Beeson and Betty Callicutt Walker. Vellie loved clothing, flowers, cats, and her 1948 Red Plymouth Convertible, which she purchased that year for $775.00. She is survived by her niece, Hilda Kemp Mitchell; and nephews, Charles Kemp and Joe Callicutt all of Asheboro. Many words of thanks to Clapp's for the care given to Vellie during her final seven years of life.
