Vassar Edwards Mattox

Vassar E. Mattox, a former resident of Troy, NC, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born on July 10, 1921 in Atlanta, Georgia to Frederick and Vassar Gilbert Edwards. Vassar was a member of the First Baptist Church in Universal City, Texas and a prayer warrior for the First Baptist Academy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wesley Mattox, Sr.; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Vassar is survived by her children: Dianne Tabb, Nancy Gray and Herman Wesley (Butch) Mattox, Jr. and wife, Paula; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at Southside Cemetery, South Main Street, Troy, NC with Tony Sedberry will be officiating.
