Tommy L. York, age 70, died Sunday, June 30 at Randolph Hospice House from complications of a skiing accident in Keystone, Colorado on January 31, 2012.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro, with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating.
Mr. York was born in Asheboro on September 19, 1942, to Arthur Lester York and Thelma Smith York who preceded him in death. He graduated from Asheboro High School in 1960 and attended ECU. He enlisted in the US Air Force and spent 3 ½ years in Germany. He loved to travel and spent much of his free time traveling in Europe. He was also introduced to snow skiing on a trip to Austria and forever loved the sport. After serving his country, he moved to Charlotte and worked for F.H. Ross and Co. as a Sales Representative.
In 1972, he married Bonnye Giles York and moved back to Asheboro. He was President of York Hosiery Mill, Inc. until it closed in 1988.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Bonnye and two sons: Alan Arthur York and wife Kimberly; Todd Mason York and wife Kelly; granddaughter Channing Addison York all of Asheboro. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Beverly Giles Herbert and her husband Dr. John G. Herbert of Decatur, Georgia; one niece SarahAnne Herbert also of Decatur, Georgia; and his favorite granddogs Badin and Jetta.
He was a life long member of Central United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Ushers. He was also an active member of the Asbury Sunday School Class until his accident.

The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church after the service. Pugh Funeral Home is assisting the family.
