Tommy Maness, Jr.

Thomas M. "Tommy" Maness, Jr., age 66, of 144 Bobby Moran Dr., Asheboro died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.Mr. Maness was born July 31, 1942 the son of Thomas M. and Esta Harvell Maness.Tommy was a native of Guilford County and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was employed as Assistant Manager of Tank and Tummy on Highway 311 and was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Diane Moffitt Maness; daughter and her husband, Melinda M. and Steven Owens of Asheboro, NC; son and his wife, T. Scott and Melanie Maness of Wake Forest, NC; 4 grandchildren; mother: Esta Harvell Maness of Asheboro, NC; and one sister: Faye M. Yow of Seagrove, NC.The family will receive friends Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at his home. The funeral will be Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard, will follow in Huldah Baptist Church Cemetery, Asheboro.Memorials may be made to Cross Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.
