Tom Burchett

John Thomas "Tom" Burchett, age 88, of Troy passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe.

Mr. Burchett was born July 30, 1931 in Guilford County, NC, the son of the late Dallas Martin Burchett and Annie Disher Burchett. He served his country in the Army and was later employed by Cone Mills as a truck driver. Tom was a kind man, always smiling and enjoyed fishing. He attended Long Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughter: Kaye Poindexter of Troy, NC; son: Rover J. Wall of Arizona; friend: Janet McElreath of New London, NC and Tina Abernathy of Albemarle, NC; sister-in-law: Louise Burchett; nieces and nephews: Pat Buchanan, Grady "Butch" Burchett, Faye Mitchell, Bud Ledbetter, Jeff Burchett, Todd Burchett, Maxine West, Ronnie Burchett, Kenny Burchett, Jason Burchett, Dwayne Burchett, and Wayne Burchett. He was predeceased by his wife: Marie Burchett; long time, loving companion: Emma Bristow; brothers: Grady Burchett, Virgil Burchett, Leonard Burchett, and Paul Burchett; sisters: Hazel Willeford, Ollie Ledbetter, Nellie Lee, and Ina Lee.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ronda Andrews, Lee and Alison Hudson, and his caregiving staff at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation of Biscoe, NC.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 23, 2019 from 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. The funeral service will follow in the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. Mark Forrest officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Candor, NC.
