Thomas Edward "Tommy" Sumner, age 61, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Randolph Health, Asheboro.
Mr. Sumner was born October 30, 1955, the son of Charles Wayne Sumner and Florence Crotts Sumner.
Mr. Sumner was a native of Randolph County. Tommy spent 20 years at the O'Berry Center in Goldsboro, NC where he lived, worked and flourished. While there, Thomas painted a picture that won an award and was sent to England and placed on display. He was the life of family gatherings and was deeply loved, cared for and spoiled by his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Charles Eugene Sumner, Roy Lee Sumner; brother in laws: Rick Farlow and Randy Farlow.
He is survived by his sisters: Brenda Farlow and Nancy Farlow both of Sophia, NC and Dianne Hoover and her husband, Harvey of Thomasville, sister in law,: Nancy Sumner of Sophia; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Joe Farlow officiating, visitation will follow at the service.
