Thomas "Tom" Claude Routh, 95 of Randleman, NC passed away on August 7, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC. Tom was born May 7, 1922 where he was a native of Randolph County. Tom started his career working in several local textile mills. During WWII, he chose to serve his country by working in the shipyards in Wilmington, NC. During the 1950's until the 1980's, he was known by many generations as the owner of Circle Inn Restaurant and the Jitterburger, in Randleman. Many people have already reached out to family members sharing their special memories made at both restaurants. In the 1960's, Circle Inn was the gathering place for the local teens on Friday nights after the football games. On Sundays after church, people lined up outside for his "country cooking" meals.
After leaving the restaurant business, he began building homes in the area with Jack Garner before his retirement. Even after retiring, he never slowed down. He loved his garden and giving his harvest to neighbors, family and friends each summer, and caring for his neighbors didn't stop there, as he continued to mow several yards on a weekly basis for the widows on his street and check on them to make sure they were okay.
"Four days before his 95th birthday, he decided to get on his ladder and clean out his gutters and unfortunately this resulted in his falling and breaking his hip.
