Thomas Odell "Pete" Morton, Sr., age 67, of 237 Charles Ave, Asheboro died Saturday, December 17, 2011. . Mr. Morton was born December 8, 1944 in Montgomery County, NC the son of Dewey Morton and Bessie Burns Morton. He retired after 35 years' service as the office manager at Martin-Marietta Aggregates, Asheboro Plant. Tommy loved to visit the North Carolina mountains, especially around Cherokee, and the North Carolina Coast. An avid ATV rider, he just loved being outdoors. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Elco Morton; a sister, Beatrice Hammett; and his fiance, Phyllis Varner. He is survived by one daughter: Wendy Morton of Asheboro, NC; one son and his wife: Tommy and Dawn Morton of Asheville, NC; grandson, Brandon Burns of Asheboro, NC; grandson and his wife, Steven and Emily Edwards of Shelby, NC; grandson, Joshua Morton of Greensboro, NC; grandson, Taylor Morton of Asheville, NC; granddaughter, Ashley Cox of Asheboro, NC; great grandson, Joshua Daniel Edwards of Shelby, NC; great grandson, Cole Edwards of Shelby, NC; great granddaughter, Taylor Edwards of Shelby, NC; one sister and her husband : Marie and Bob Edwards of Shelby, NC The family will receive friends Monday, December 19, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Edward J. Arroyo officiating.
