Thomas Andrew Illman

Thomas Andrew Illman, age 55, of 228 Frye St., Troy, NC, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at Duke Medical Center after a courageous 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Troy with Dr. Phillips McRae officiating. Mr. Illman was a native of Winston Salem and was employed by the NC Department of Forestry Resources for 32 years. He was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Baptist Men at First Baptist Church. Tom loved scouting and devoted much of his life to it, receiving the coveted Silver Beaver Award for Boy Scout volunteer leaders in March. Mr. Illman was preceded in death by his father, Ernest M. Illman. He is survived by his wife Bobbie C. Illman of the home; mother, Florence W. Illman of Walnut Cove, NC; one daughter: Erin Illman and husband, Eric Morinello of San Francisco, CA; two sons: Matthew Thomas Illman of Carrboro, NC and Joshua Andrew Illman of Greenville, NC; one sister: Nan Crews of PA. The family will receive friends Monday at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 6-7 pm prior to the memorial service.
