Thomas "Tom" M. Fields, age 67, of Greensboro died Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was born January 31, 1946 in Guilford County, the son of Jesse Melvin and Carol Davis Fields.
Tom was a graduate of Page High School. He attended North Carolina State University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He retired from IBM of Greensboro and was later self employed as a computer consultant. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Nixon Fields of Randleman; two daughters and their spouses: Courtney and Jim Simmons of Jacksonville, FL and Hayden and Dan Bilzor of Atlanta, GA; stepson: Chris Cook of High Point; 6 grandchildren: Riley and Riane Cook of the home, Ballard Simmons of Jacksonville, FL; Addison, Zoe and Stella Bilzor of Atlanta, GA; one sister and her husband: Ann and Johnny Morgan of Greensboro; niece and her husband: Angie and Tony Brown of Pleasant Garden and nephew: Mike Morgan of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 3:30-5:00 PM at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Greensboro, 5603 Hilltop Road (at Guilford College Road), Jamestown, NC. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM with Reverend Eric Posa officiating.
