Thomas C . "Peahead" Cox

Thomas Clarkston "Peahead" Cox, age 81, of Sophia died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Cox was born February 24, 1936 in Randolph County to Linden and Inez Cox. He was a hardworking man with strong work ethics. Mr. Cox was the owner of Caraway Mobile Home Movers. Mr. Cox had a deep love of racing and was the 1962 Rookie of the Year for NASCAR Grand Nationals. He was a loving and giving man with a generous heart and was an avid jokester. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his sister, Jewel Cox Dorsett and stepson, Christopher Simmons. Peahead was loved and will be truly missed.

He is survived by the love of his life, Traci Turner of the home; stepdaughters, Bambi Turner of Lexington, Kelli Church and husband Lee of Thomasville; step son, Andrew Turner and wife Amanda of Randleman step son, , Randy Simmons of Asheboro. Thomas adored all of his grandchildren, Caleb James, Lillian and Lauren Church, Jesse Strange, Emily and Briana Turner; great grandson, Hagen James. He is also survived by his devoted employees who loved him very much, Janet Davis, Edward "Bo" Church, Jason Pace, Tom Parsons and Steven Shaw and his beloved dogs, Lily, Pea Head, Baby Girl, Smiley, Dixie, Buddy.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at his home.
