Thomas George Bacik, age 81, of Asheboro, NC died Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 6-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 8, 2014 in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Bentley officiating.
Mr. Bacik was born on August 17, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Michael and Anna Rose Bacik, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Benedictine High School and attended John Carroll University. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army from January 5, 1954-December 23, 1955. His career with IBM began in Cleveland, OH and spanned 32 years. He retired as a systems engineer in Raleigh, NC in 1992.
Tom was dedicated to giving back to the community and volunteered for many years with the UNC-Wilmington Osher Life Long Learning Program and Habitat for Humanity in Wilmington and Asheboro.
He is survived by his wife Geneva Jones "Ginny" Bacik; daughter, Joyce Best and husband Tim of High Point, NC; sons, Jim Bacik and wife Cynthia of Suwanee, GA; John Bacik and wife Kathleen of Scottsdale, AZ; step son, Channing Stott of Raleigh, NC; step daughter, Allyson Hilliard and special friend Dennis Knight both of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Alex Best, Preston Bacik, Andrew Bacik, Charlee Bacik, Nick Bacik, Lauryn Bacik; sister, Millie Chrin of Silver Lake, OH; and 13 nieces and nephews.
