Theodore Frederick (Ted) Moran, 86, of 1306 Old Cox Road, died on October 5, 2009, at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro, NC.
A native of Freeport, NY, he migrated south after completing his military service, to attend High Point College on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1949. Upon graduation, he was recruited by Acme-McCrary to work in the Shipping Department and to play on the Acme-McCrary Eagles basketball team. He continued to work at Acme -McCrary in the Order Planning Department until his retirement. Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lou Moran.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Simmons and husband, Jerry of Asheboro; daughter, Pat Glenn and husband, Ned of Ewing, NJ; daughter, Irene Ritchie of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Ann Porter and husband, Mark of Asheboro; grandchildren, Brad Simmons and Hugh and Laura Ritchie; great-granddaughters, Brayd and Braylon Simmons.
A mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Christopher Davis officiating. Pugh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the service.
