Thelma Mullinix Kearns

Thelma Mullinix Kearns, age 100, of River Road, Troy died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Kearns was born November 21, 1910 in Troy, NC, the daughter of Jesse and Stella Morris Mullinix. She was a retired employee with 44 years of service with Capel Rug Mill and also a former employee with 10 years of service with Troy Drapery Corporation. Mrs. Kearns, a woman of strong Christian faith, was a member of Uwharrie United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and mother-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Stella Morris Mullinix, her husband, Charles B. Kearns, a brother, Marvin Mullinix and a sister, Ruth Lisenby. She is survived by three sons: James M. Kearns and wife, Lynda of Denton, Don Kearns and wife, Pat of Troy, Carol Kearns and wife, Dixie of Troy; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Julia M. Saunders of Burlington; three brothers: Robert Mullinix of Troy, Bill Mullinix of Richfield, Ted Mullinix of Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the Mullinix homeplace, 167 Morton Road, Troy. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Uwharrie United Methodist Church, NC Hwy 109N, Troy with Rev. Jack Luther and Rev. William Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
