Thelma (Judy) Mabe Jelle

Thelma Heilig Mabe Jelle (Judy), 85, of Asheboro, entered the gates of heaven on the evening of Sunday, February 5th, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:a.m. at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Mrs. Jelle was born in Julian, NC on August 29, 1926 to Martin and Zula Laughlin Heilig. She and her husband Odell were owners of Mabe Oil Company for many years. Judy also worked as a clerk in the overseas shipping department at B.B. Walker Co. and was the financial officer of the former Brian Center Nursing Home. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husbands Odell Mabe and Neal Jelle. Judy was a current member of Balfour Baptist Church and previously Greystone Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school for many years. She devoted her life to Christ and her family. Judy will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Her mind may have succumbed to Alzhiemer's disease but her love and joy was shared to the end. Her presence will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, David Mabe and his wife Cindy of Asheboro, NC, Walter Mabe of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Amber Johnson and her husband Chip of Asheboro, NC, Jamie Johnston and her husband Joe of Seagrove, NC, David J. Mabe and his wife Jennifer of Asheboro, NC, Alexander Mabe of Asheboro, NC; great grandchildren, Brytain Lawson, Piper Johnson, Julie Johnston and Jake Johnston. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. At other times at the home of David and Cindy Mabe, 946 North Shore Drive, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
