Thelma Sheffield Sikes Jordan, age 91, died Friday, August 10, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. She was a resident of Clapp's Nursing Home for the past two years and had been in declining health for the past six months.
Mrs. Jordan was born September 27, 1920 in Randolph County to George and Etta Miller Sheffield. She was a member of Central Falls Baptist Church for 53 years making her one of the oldest members there. She was employed with Randolph Hospital for 37 years as a nurse's aide. Mrs. Jordan was a loving mother, grandmother and special friend to numerous people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Woodrow Sikes and Raymond Jordan, her twin sister, Zelma in addition to nine other sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her daughters, Etta J. Fields of Jamestown, Yvonne Spinks and her husband Dean of Trinity, Carolyn Angel and her husband William of Asheboro; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; special friends, Jay and Jeannie Smith and Delores Williams.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, and Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Central Falls Baptist Church. A celebration of her life will follow at 2:00 pm Sunday at the church with Rev. Gerald Hussey officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
