Terry Jackson "Jack" Morris, age 86, of Asheboro died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Morris was born March 3, 1926 the son of Albert Wade and Zella Shiplette Morris.
Mr. Morris was a native of High Point and a member of First E & R United Church Of Christ. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII where he entertained the troops as a drummer. After leaving the military, Jack was a drummer with the Art Lopez Swing Band and was a 1949 graduate of High Point Unversity. He retired from Burlington Industries where he was an industrial engineer for over 36 years and was formerly employed with Stuart - Bowman Car Dealership. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and always fun-loving, never had a harsh word to say, jovial and always had encouraging words to share.
He is survived by his wife: Rebecca Morris of the home, daughter: Sharon Sawyer and her husband, John of Asheboro, sons: Terry R. Morris and his wife, Carolyn of Asheboro, Thomas "Tom" Morris and his wife, Cindy of Asheboro, grandchildren:, Haley Sawyer Pugh and her husband, Aaron, Anna Sawyer Kelly and her husband, Tim, Daniel Morris and David Morris; great grandchild: Sawyer Pugh all of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 31, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
The funeral service will be held Monday, December 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.
