Sylvia Marie Gibson

Sylvia Marie Garner Gibson, age 68, of Mt. Gilead, NC, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Atrium Health Stanly Hospital in Albemarle, NC.  

Sylvia was born in Laurinburg NC to the late Alvin Garner Sr. and Elvina Jackson.   Sylvia was a graduate of Pinecrest High School. She attended UNC Chapel Hill and finished her Bachelor's Degree at UNC Greensboro. She was retired and previously worked as Controller and Payroll Accountant at Ace/Avant Concrete.  Sylvia was known for her great sense of humor.  She loved coffee, reading, puzzles, the Hallmark Channel, feeding and watching birds, and all things purple.  "Gramoo's" pride and joy in life were her grandchildren.  

Sylvia is survived by her son: Sean Prevo of Florence, SC; daughter: Kalani Berry (Eric) of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren: Nicholas, Mackenzie, Slayton, Jackson, Maggie, and Valley; sister: Linda Douglas (Tom) of Mebane; brother: Pete Garner (Janell) of Southern Pines.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Sonny Garner.  

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
