Susan Elaine Campbell Watkins

Susan Elaine Campbell Watkins, age 63, of Troy went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 9, 2021 at her home. Susan was born January 8, 1958 to James Harrison and Frances Weld Campbell. Susan was raised in Candor and was a 1976 graduate of East Montgomery High School. She received an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Montgomery Community College. In 1987, Susan married her soulmate Chris. She started her Criminal Justice career working as a dispatcher with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Later she began work as a correctional officer with the NC Prison system and finished her career there in 2016 working in administration. Susan is a lifelong member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church. Susan enjoyed taking trips to the beach with her family and loved riding motorcycle with Chris. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all that knew her. Susan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Chris Watkins; daughters, Katherine Watkins of Arlington, VA and Laura Watkins Dills and husband Michael of Troy; brothers, Larry Campbell and wife Donna of Fuquay-Varina and Phillip Campbell and wife Sue of Garner. The family will receive friends Monday, July 12, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 3269 Candor-Troy Road, Biscoe with Rev. Steve Wilkinson and Rev. Beth Olker officiating.
