Sue Brewer Joyner

Sue Brewer Joyner, age 102, of Asheboro died peacefully on Saturday, September 1st.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4th at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, North Carolina.  Reverend Lynda Ferguson will officiate.  The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wait Brewer of Wake Forest, North Carolina.  She was a graduate of Meredith College with a degree in teaching. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. George W. Joyner; her brother, Samuel Wait Brewer of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and her sister Nancy Brewer Kitchen of Clinton, North Carolina.  She is survived by a daughter Nancy Joyner Jordan of Asheboro and a son, George William Joyner, Jr. and wife Betsy of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She had four grandchildren:  Sue (Susie) Jordan Collins and husband Freddy of Charlotte, North Carolina; George Harrison Jordan and wife Amy of Greensboro, North Carolina; George William Joyner, III and wife Christine of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and Sara-Peyton Joyner McCormick and husband Stuart of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She also has seven great grandchildren.

Sue graciously volunteered, giving much of her time to her community and church.  She was a passionate artist and loved a good game of golf or bridge.

The family is eternally grateful to her caregiver special friends and the wonderful staff of Mountain Top Residential Apartments.
