Sue Vuncannon Duggins, age 78, of Asheboro died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 peacefully after a brief illness, with her daughters by her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Lillie Bell Vuncannon and her loving husband Jack Duggins. Surviving are her daughters Beth Caulkins of Raleigh, NC, Pam Flood of Roanoke, VA; son-in-law, Barry Flood also of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Lillie and Read Caulkins, Joyner, Callie and Oliver Flood. She is also survived by a sister Jean Dodd of Atlanta, GA and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Sue was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She cherished her church family, especially her Christian Love Sunday school class. Sue enjoyed volunteering with her Sunday school class at Victory Junction, a camp for disabled children. She loved spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren. Sue was always looking forward to the next Vuncannon reunion. She was an avid bridge player and would play every day if there was a game available. Sue had numerous friends who gave her great joy and wonderful memories during her life. She was a generous person who was constantly taking food to anyone in need. Sue will be remembered as a feisty red head with a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and a compassion for everyone.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. George Roberson and Rev. Susan Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery.
