Street Morgan, age 89, of Asheboro passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home. Mr. Morgan was born September 25, 1922 the son of John Robert and Bertie Mae Brewer Morgan. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Asheboro United Church of Christ, 801 Sunset Ave., Asheboro with Dr. John S. Rogers and Rev. Tom Benedict officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro Mr. Morgan was a native of Norman, NC the seventh of eleven children. As a boy, he worked in the peach orchards. He was a strong and handsome young man and excelled in athletics and making friends. He married Mary Louise McLeod in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2009. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a Seabee on the island of Tinian. After returning to Randolph County, he worked for more than 40 years with Randolph Electric Cooperative, retiring as operations manager. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Balfour Lodge. He was a long standing member of Asheboro United Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, giving his garden surplus to help others. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Beulah, Noah, Glenn, Bob, Mary, Roy, Blanche, Nell and Doug. He is survived by two sons: Dale Morgan and his wife Connie of Asheboro, NC, Mike Morgan and his former wife Joann of Spencer, NC; granddaughter, MaryDale Morgan Worboys and her husband Ash of Asheboro, NC; grandson, Kenneth Morgan and his wife Anita of High Point, NC; grandson, Kevin Morgan and his wife Shelly of Landis, NC; granddaughter, Jenny Morgan Prince and her husband Jeff of Goldsboro, NC; grandson, Jason Morgan of Wilmington, NC; great grandchildren, Hampton Worboys, Easton Morgan, Kaden Morgan, Elizabeth Morgan, Ella Morgan; and one sister: Betty Jean Yarboro of Ellerbe, NC.
