Steven “Steve” Edward Smith, age 50, of Trinity died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House.

Mr. Smith was born in Lexington, NC on July 26, 1968 to Teresa Snider Smith.  He was employed as a Taxidermist and attended Bethel Baptist Church.  Steve was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Tammi Smith.  Steve was a strong-willed man and a loving husband, father, and son.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and in his younger days, he enjoyed bull riding.  He was known as "Mr. Steve" to his baseball and softball players.   

He is survived by his wife, Jody Huneycutt Smith; sons, Cody Smith and wife Nadia of Franklinville, Garrett Smith of Trinity; daughter, Gracie Smith of Trinity; grandson, Cohen Smith; mother, Teresa Smith Franks and husband Terry of Trinity; brothers, Brian Smith of Lexington, Jason Smith and wife Natalie of Seagrove; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 4836 Robbins Circle Rd., Asheboro with Dr. Jody Harrison and Pastor Casey Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
