Stephen "Steve" Leon Williams, age 78, of Asheboro died Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Williams was born September 4, 1942 the son of Harry Leon Williams and Lorena Koontz Williams.
Stephen was born in Cabarrus County and a resident of Asheboro. He was a graduate of NC State University in nuclear science. Stephen worked as a nuclear engineer for many different plants and traveled extensively assisting in his field. Stephen became a self-employed contractor in writing safety and compliance manuals in nuclear science. He also enjoyed playing his trumpet with a band, going to nursing homes to entertain the residents. Stephen was a very knowledgeable and successful man who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister: Sandra Fisher.
He is survived by son: Steve Williams, Jr., and his wife, Mary B. Williams of Chester, VA, grandchildren: Everett Leon Williams, Brandy Elizabeth Williams, and Sean Thomas Williams,
brother: Charles Williams and his wife, Christine Williams of Kannapolis, NC; nephew: Thomas Williams; niece: Jennifer Williams and brother-in-law: Phil Fisher of Raleigh, NC.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Sandy Creek Cemetery of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 648 Giles Road, Lexington, NC.
