Stephen Ray "Steve" King, age 55, of Randleman died Monday, August 25, 2014 at his home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 1:00-1:45 pm at North Ridge Church, 117 Waketa Dr., Asheboro. A Celebration of Life will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at North Ridge Church with Rev. Dean Pollard and Rev. Jim Purdy officiating.
Mr. King was born in Burlington, NC on June 27, 1959 to Irvin Ray and Florina Campbell King, who preceded him in death. He was a 1977 graduate of Western Alamance High School and a 1981 graduate of Appalachian State University. Steve was employed with Teleflex-Arrow International for 10 years. Steve was an avid sports fan including Appalachian State, Atlanta Braves, NY Yankees, UNC, and the Asheboro Blue Comets. Steve was a man of faith, a biblical scholar, and a leader in his church, North Ridge Church. He loved spending time with his family and especially his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Pam King; daughters, Stevie Hill and husband Barney of Randleman, Brittney King Haywood and husband Jasper of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter, Lily Rae Haywood; sister, Brenda King Chapman and husband Steve of Pawleys Island, SC; step mother, Doris King of Linwood; step brothers, Barry Byrd and wife Rebecca of Faith, Kevin Byrd and wife Debbie of Winston-Salem, Tim Byrd and wife Pamela of Hamilton, OH; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe And Marjorie King of Burlington; brothers-in-law, Steve King of Franklin, Scott King of Burlington; granddogs, Sophie, Guinevere and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews.
