Stephen "Steve" James Kendrick, age 53, of Asheboro died Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 12:00 noon-1:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of his wife Sharon Kendrick, 475 NC Hwy 62 E, Greensboro and at his home at 912 Straight St., Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Buddy Rampey and Rev. Elizabeth Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery, Asheboro.
Mr. Kendrick was a native of Gaston County and was a 1978 graduate of Asheboro High School. He was most recently employed with Asheboro City Schools. Steve loved his family and friends. His passion was music and he enjoyed playing the electric bass.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Carter Kendrick; sons, Stephen Matthew "Matt" Kendrick and Aaron James "A.J." Kendrick both of Greensboro; parents, Rev. A.J. and Martha Kendrick of Asheboro; and sister, Cindy Callicutt and her husband Everett of Asheboro and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Hanna Sanoff with the Oncology Department of UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and to Hospice of Randolph for the loving care given to him during his illness.
