Stella Ruth Kelly Poole, age 100, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at home with her daughter in Mount Gilead.
Stella was born January 21, 1914 in Montgomery County to John Wesley and Rosa Belle Harris Kelly.
Stella was the author of "Come Sing With Me, A Little Book of Poetry". She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband (Lex Poole), daughter (Edna Mae Blake), one grandson and one great-grandson.
She is survived by four daughters: Alvis Goforth (Grady) of Candor, Clara Ruth Brigman (Jimmy) of Rockingham, Viola Ewing (George) of Rockingham, Vonnie Kaye Helms (Stephan) of Mt. Gilead; five sons: Edward Lee Poole (Gathy) of Norwood, Chester Poole of Candor, Harold David Poole of Polkton, Dudley Poole of Candor, Melvin Bruce Poole (Kaye) of Red Cross; twenty-three grandchildren, one step-grandchild and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Alta Sasser of Albemarle.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Sharon Cemetery, NC Hwy731E, Mt. Gilead with Dr. Phillips McRae of First Baptist Church of Troy officiating.
