Walter Standish Hopkins, age 44, of Denton passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Hopkins was born in High Point, NC on December 12, 1972 to Levon and Barbara Martin Hopkins. He was a 1991 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and a member of Brower's Memorial Wesleyan Church. Standish was the co-founder of GHS Corporation. Standish enjoyed life and just having fun and encouraged others to do the same. He enjoyed traveling with his family. Standish was a wonderful husband, father, and son, and a friend to all who came his way.
Standish had the biggest heart for others. He could entertain like no other, and his stories went on forever because he had to make sure everyone got a laugh. He loved the outdoors-anything outside, he was there. He loved his daughter and son out of this world and told them often and how proud he was of them. Standish made sure his wife knew she was loved in many ways-mostly by hugs, kisses, and just telling her-and never telling her "no.: (He loved to tell people that). Standish taught skills early to his children-made them work hard, and loved watching them master a new skill. There is too much to say about such a wonderful man. He loved so many things.
Standish has proudly represented the Walker Riding Mower for 31 years. He loved the Walker family and enjoyed every time he spent with them. He looked forward to traveling to Colorado every year to see them and travel to some of his favorite places.
Standish loved his community. He couldn't imagine living anywhere but New Hope, where everyone is family. He shared so many memories with his family of his childhood in the New Hope Community with his family and friends. He has a special place at Lanier's Store. He has an inside joke, with most, or nickname for everyone. Standish was a supporter of the Randolph County Sheriff Department and the NC Highway Patrol.
----There was only one STANDISH----
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Tesh Hopkins, son, Walker Hopkins; daughter, Kaitlyn Kiser and husband Kevin; parents, Levon and Barbara Hopkins all of Denton; sister, Kathy Cashion and husband Joe of Lexington; and niece, Callie Lane.
