Smith Fleming Langdon, age 84, of Asheboro died Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home
Mr. Langdon was born August 17, 1932 the son of Delmar and Alvie Partin Langdon.
Smith was a native of Angier, NC but spent most of his life in Asheboro, NC. He was the recreation director for Acme-McCrary for 45 years. There he was part of many memorable basketball games, some against the UNC Tarheels. He formed a basketball league for 8 to 10 year olds where none had previously existed. He was a Mason (Balfour Lodge), a Civitan, a member of Franklinville UMC and a former Sunday School teacher at Oakhurst Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Smith is preceded in death by his wife: Henri Etta Spencer Langdon, brother: Joe Langdon, and sister: Anne Tilley. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by one daughter: Tammy Langdon of Winston- Salem, NC; son and his wife: Sam and Julie Langdon of Asheboro, NC; grandsons: Ben Nooner of Oxford, MS and Georges Massoda of Yonkers, NY; and granddaughters: Cloie and Caroline Langdon of Asheboro, NC and his faithful sidekick, Vincent Lassiter of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J. Harold Hammond and Rev. Chris West officiating.
A private burial will be held.
