Shirley "Granny" Graves Prescott, age 80, of Lexington died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Prescott was born February 28, 1936 in Guilford County to James and Dora Graves.
She was formerly employed with Miller Desk Company in High Point. Granny loved going to Kure Beach and fishing off the pier, hunting for shark's teeth and bird watching. Her favorite baseball team was the Atlanta Braves which she enjoyed watching with her grandchildren. The loves of her life was her grandchildren and family. She loved going to sports events to watch them play, baking chocolate chip cookies and chocolate pudding for them to enjoy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Prescott was preceded in death by her children, Robbie Owens and Mike Owens and brother, Steve Graves. She was also preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, Mabel and John Shelton, who raised her and her siblings after her parents passed away.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Hunter and husband Steve of Asheboro; granddaughters, Carla Hill and husband Kevin of Asheboro, Amy Stout and husband Brian of Trinity; great grandchildren, Hunter and Keaton Hill, Dalton, Maddox and Kaylee Stout; sister, Nina Adams of High Point; brother, James Graves of Durham.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 3, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
