Shirley Yeatts McDaniel of Kernersville, NC, born March 3, 1940 in Toshes, Virginia died on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem at the age of 74 following an extended bout with cancer. She was one of six daughters of the late Lee Plunkett Yeatts and Nannie McCrickard Yeatts.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Philpott and two sisters, Betty Yeatts and Phyllis Philpott. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Vernon B. McDaniel of the home, a son, Stacy B. Philpott and wife, Brooke of Durham, NC; two step-daughters, Laura Gardner and husband, Terry of Asheboro, NC; Lynn Setzer and husband, Steve of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Blaize Gardner and Ashlyn Grace Setzer. Sisters, Nancy Y. Pickral of Gretna, VA; Faye Y. Ferguson and Patsy Y. Mills of Danville, VA; and beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Gretna High School, Gretna, VA. She worked for 20 years as the medical assistant to Dr. Larry Sanzenbacher in Asheboro, NC.

A service in honor of her dedicated life to God, family, and friends will be held at Glenwood Presbyterian Church, 1205 Glenwood Avenue, Greensboro, NC. Visitation will be at the church at 10:00 AM with funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2014, Rev. Dr. Charles H. Howell officiating, with burial to follow at 2:00 PM in New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro, NC.
