Shirley Ann Dezern

Shirley Ann Hurst Dezern, age 68, of 651 Foxfire Rd., Asheboro died Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 5:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Mrs. Dezern was born December 25, 1939 in Mathews County, VA and was preceded in death by her father, Charles Maxwell Hurst and brothers, Charles Lee Hurst, Sr. and William "Howard" Hurst. She is survived by her husband, Lonzie Lee Bill Dezern of the home; son, Tracey Lee Dezern of the home; mother, Iris Hazel Soles Hurst of Gloucester, VA; sisters, Jerry Cooke of Dawsonville, GA, Carolyn Renaldi of Gloucester, VA, Sandra Ward of Mathews, VA; brother, James Maxwell Hurst of Mathews, VA; extended family consists of many nieces and nephews; Godchild, Krista Atkins and Kristas mother, Ginger Atkins both of Asheboro, NC and Godchild, James Leslie Hurst of Mathews, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 4:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009. The family wishes to express special thanks to Hospice of Randolph and to Dr. Christine McCarty and the staff of Randolph Cancer Center for the loving care given to Shirley during her illness.
