Sherman G. Frye

Sherman G. Frye, age 75, of Sophia passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Frye was born in Carthage, NC on November 10, 1943 to Roy and Mary Barber Frye. He was a retired painting contractor. In addition to his parents, Sherman was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Gail Wright, and brothers, Leroy and James Frye. Sherman was a caring and wonderful man who was always putting others before himself. He loved his children and grandchildren and was known as "Papa" or "Pops" to his family and friends. Sherman enjoyed flower gardening.

He is survived by his children, Linda Julian and husband Roger of Asheboro, Chris Frye and wife Karen of Coleridge, Judy Fuller of Greensboro, and Debbie Corder of Asheboro; caregiver, Anna Frye of Sophia; grandchildren, Jeremy Julian, Kristin Julian, Brandon Frye, Kevin Frye, April Corder, Baylie Fuller, Keaton Fuller, Mattea Richmond, Ryken Richmond, Lexis Richmond, Chloe Richmond, and Luke Richmond; great grandchild, Kameron Love; sister, Doris Ellen Lewis of Liberty; and brother, Lawrence Frye of Robbins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Fletcher and Rev. Terry Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
