Shelby Gunter Hunt, age 69, of 1235 Union Church Road, Asheboro died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Hunt was born September 10, 1941 the daughter of Walter Madison and Eva Mae Ledwell Gunter.
Shelby was a native of Randolph County and an active member of New Union United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Class of 1959 of Farmer High School. She enjoyed many events over the years at Farmer School and Southwest Randolph High School. She was an avid New York Yankees fan. Shelby retired from Elastic Therapy of Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Shelby is preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Duane Gunter.
She is survived by her husband: Richard Hunt; three sons and their wives: Mark and Phyllis Hunt, Bruce and Regina Hunt, Scott and Ingrid Hunt all of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter and her husband, Ashley and Brian McGraw of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter and her husband, Casie and Anthony Copple of Asheboro, NC; grandson, Corey Hunt of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Troy, and Mason Hunt of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Victoria and Benjamin Hunt of Asheboro, NC; great grandchildren, Allie and Hayden Reece McGraw; one brother and his wife, David and Betty Gunter of Asheboro, NC; and one sister and her husband, Nancy and Steve Routh of Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave. Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 4:00 PM at New Union United Methodist Church, 1293 Union Church Road, Asheboro with Rev. Neil Crowell and Johnny Harvell officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
